This is a unique group based around fitness, health and exercise. We offer our members the chance to do all kinds of different things to get into shape, get active and, most importantly, get off the couch and live!! Who says you have to join the gym or run for endless miles on a treadmill to get into shape. Wilmington Health Nuts is a group dedicated to giving you opportunities to explore and try new things.
We are planning a wide array of different experiences from gentle yoga to much more challenging types of exercise like functional strength, or martial arts training. Some events may not even be considered mainstream fitness activities like paintball, but they still get you up and moving about. Most events will be free as we are promoting local gyms, fitness experts, and other businesses. Not only will you get to have some fun and get active but you'll meet some great people along your journey.
Nearly all events are donated by the business owners so if you RSVP, please make sure you can attend as there are limited spaces available for each event and we do not want to be disrespectful to any of the businesses or other members who really want to take part.

Learning about about herbalism and natural/alternative health is a form of community activism. I think it is a crucial part of bringing people together. I would like to infuse the local community with a sense of responsibility and support for individual health. Being able to heal yourself is an empowering act that lays a foundation for the ability to heal your community.
All ages, all sizes, and all levels of dance experience meet up to dance Salsa, Shag, Swing, Tango, Ballroom, Latin, and Country/Western.
Party every Friday night: lesson 8-9pm, 9-11pm open dancing. Open to the public. Every Friday is Anything Goes! We will play a variety of music and all types of dance will be see throughout the night.
Classes throughout the week in a group setting. Private lessons also available.
This is for meeting with water people who like to paddle Stand Up Paddle Boards for fitness and recreation, to race or to enjoy the water, for the Aloha spirit, or for competition—or for all of the above.
I know many of you are just starting, while others are racing veterans. Some surf, some don't. No matter. Here, you can find someone to paddle with, to workout, or just to make sure you all get back to the dock safely.

My strong desire to help others to learn how to heal themselves has led me to study many healing modalities that include Nutrition, Aromatherapy, Craniosacral, Bowen Therapy, EFT, UltraMind, SRT, The Reconnection, Reiki, etc. It is important to me for people to feel empowered both with their own health and their finances. It saddens me to see so many people handing hundreds or thousands of dollars over to others when they have the power to treat themselves and their families.
I have been using essential oils for over 15 years, primarily because I enjoyed their scents. They were all sold to me as pure and all therapeutic grade, but I never noticed any healing benefits from using them. It wasn't until last year, when I discovered (CPTG) Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® essential oils, that I experienced healing from the organic compounds within these oils that actually heal our bodies.
A very dear friend of mine, who has guided me to take profoundly life-altering paths, asked me to try certified pure, essential oils when my son became ill. Every year, for 8 years, my son had contracted a lung-based virus that inevitably turned into a lung infection that had to be treated with antibiotics. I would like to impress upon you that a certified pure therapeutic grade essential oil is the only oil that is tested twice by an outside agency to ensure that EVERY VIAL of EVERY BATCH is pure. This second test, called a mass spectrometry test, ensures that each vial is free of chemicals, synthetics, foreign impurities (ie: weeds, etc.) and that the proper amount of compounds is present that should be present in the indigenous plant. Plants are most potent in their indigenous areas. Other companies either do not test as thoroughly or every batch, or they do their testing in-house, which invalidates the validity of the test.
I was a buyer for a major importing company for several years. Our vendors always sent the top-of-the-line product when they were trying to gain our business. After that point, I cannot count the number of times that we had to send shipments back to the vendors because the quality was not what was promised. Had we not been diligent about inspecting every shipment, our stores would have been full of junk. I believe that all of the essential oil companies who do NOT test every vial of every batch are allowing the possibility of selling products that are as pure as they believe. Relying on the vendors to consistently provide the same quality of product as they did during the initiation stage is negligent.
Your nose will know the difference in a therapeutic grade product and a certified pure, therapeutic grade product, and the rest of your body will know too.

The other side of this coin is a reality full of people who are hurting - who are hurting other people who are hurting. It is causing a great disturbance that is rooted in the spiritual & that manifests physically as war, disease and famine - all of it.
I am coming to you here to say that I hope we can band together and find common interests & be the healers for ourselves and everyone in the human community.
We are making the shift from hurting to healing - healing the healers. It is a way to have a place and a purpose in the shifting of consciousness and the triumph of the human spirit.
Some of these words came from one description, which I really like.
Someone else in another Meetup community has created it a while ago.
These words are well chosen; they sound so good and fill the heart with such a freshness of depths & heights, with an incredible sense of oneness in the truth.

Valentina Borodina Iourtchenko
BIOGRAPHY
Valentina Borodina Iourtchenko is an internationally known Russian healer, medical intuitive, therapist, teacher and scientist. She is also a poet and writer (prose-essays, novels, science fiction, fantasy, fairy tales, as well as studies in herbology, relationships, healing and the hidden gifts and talents for daily life).
Valentina was born and lived much of her life in southwest Siberia. Her grandmother trained her from an early age in the traditional arts of herbology and healing. This later expanded to include homeopathy and bio-energetic healing through gentle body adjustment a very deep and advanced form of treatment and psychotherapy that penetrates to the bodys awareness where the blockages and roots of any condition reside. This cellular healing of emotional blockages and physical illnesses is created without medication. Valentina describes each experience so the client can fully participate in the transition processes a counseling and energy work that opens up conscious awareness. The depths of love, the unclaimed gifts of the soul and knowing of God arise in her work.
With her Russian spiritual tradition, Valentina learned more about herbology and homeopathy in high school and University studies. She greatly expanded her medical understanding through her doctoral studies; all the while using medical knowledge and personal research to enhance the traditional methods she had been taught. The basis of all of her efforts, however, is her amazing love where a healers gifts reveal themselves in the depth of his or her work.
In 1981, she received her masters degree in Kemerovo, Russia where she specialized in anatomy, physiology and psychology. Her extensive research in environmental pollution and its effects on the physical body, combined with her knowledge of natural remedies, led to the treatment of radiation, pollution illnesses, aging diseases, work related illnesses and disease prevention.
From 1982 to 1986 Valentina continued her research at the Medical Research Institute at the Medical Academy of Russia. Through blood analysis and other biochemical functions, she researched the role that heavy metals and other pollutants play in interfering with the natural detoxification processes of the body.
In 1985, while working on her PhD in medical biochemistry at the government's Cardiology Scientific and Medical Center in Moscow, she began deeper research into how heart failure, multi-organ toxicity and other health disorders affect other body systems. Herbs became the key, linking the allopathic and alternative forms of medicine. Valentina proceeded to study the effects of toxicity and stress on the physical system and how energy healing can restore the body to its natural cycles for greater balance and wellness.
Valentina has been teaching and sharing her gifts with people of all ages worldwide for the past 30 years. Currently she spends her time between her private practice in America, Canada and Europe, her workshops offered worldwide and her charitable work in Russia.
More then 20 Russian orphanages and Elder People Living Houses are touched with her love and care, and that of her Russian and American friends in a network Valentina created as a bridge of love between Russia and America.

We also feature delicious homemade ice cream and other desserts. We started this group to offer a community activity for locals to get out and mix and mingle in a safe and scenic way. We organize and host this meetup 1-2 times per month. This group is open to anyone with a baby or child/children in a stroller. Smooth Ballroom Dance Lessons are on Thursdays- Waltz, Foxtrot, American Tango and Foxy
Rhythm and Latin Ballroom Dance Lessons are on Wednesdays- East Coast Swing, Mambo, Samba and Rumba
Advancing lessons are held at 6pm and the basic lessons are held at 7pm. These are then followed by a guided practice session at 8pm.
Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, Cha cha, and Swing are some of the featured dances in Ballroom Dancing.

Helping out on these projects takes to places that you may have never known existed or were being used by local wildlife in ways you didn't even know! Currently, there are many opportunities to help restore nesting bird habitat, bird banding and assisting with bird surveys. All levels of experience are welcome too.

I have about 5-6 pairs of skates I have accumulated over the years and they are in excellent condition.
If you dont have skates let me know what size you are and well try to lend you some skates while you think of buying your own.
Once we know your skate size, I know many distributors from brand names such as, Rollerblade, K2, and Bont which can get you a very good deal. My goal is to get you on skates so that you can start having fun while working out.

This is a motorcycle & social group, not a club! We do not require certain patches,motorcycle vest or the like. there are no 1st officers or officers of any kind...we all have a voice as long as respect is kept at a fair level to every member, all members strongly believe in the restraint from drinking(alcohol) while driving(especially while on a motorcycle). Coffee, soda, water and tea are our preferred drinks as we do not have to have alcohol for us to have a great time, we are all naturally high on life itself and the thrill of driving and riding our Motorcycles on the open road. We enjoy rides that go at posted speed limits with plenty of pit stops to enjoy the things we see along the ride...We are TRULY a group that is in it for the ride and not just the destination!!

This group has something to offer for every mom- working moms, moms of multiples, stay-at-home moms, single moms, married moms, etc. This is a positive environment for moms to make friends, share stories and laughs, and offer advice. This group's purpose is to gather those of us who want to help close the digital divide and make Wilmington become a more technologically advanced community. In Wilmington, there are many people who do not have personal computers or the skills necessary to use computers effectively. Also, we do not have much choice when it comes to internet providers and the wi-fi available is not all it could be. One project I hope to begin with this group involves refurbishing computers, installing a very simple OS (I like Jolicloud personally), having a 4-6 session class where students can learn to use the computers and then take the computers home. Another opportunity for volunteering is teaching computer skills to seniors. I've taught a couple of 6 week classes and it is really fun and rewarding. Those are my specialty areas, but this group is for all things involving computers and the internet. It would be great for people who have diverse ideas and goals to join this group and together we can help Wilmington become more technologically advanced.
Our group will be made up of couples who found themselves without other couples to hang out with on the weekends and/or simply wanted to rebuild a close circle of friends. As the founder of the group, after moving to this area with my husband, we found ourselves without a local circle of friends that were married to spend time with. I was positive we weren't the only ones in this situation. So, I decided to ... do something about it and decided to create this group. **This group is intended for "Serious" couples & Married Couples in their 20's and 30's** Every Couple deserves some "Date Night" time away from the hustle and bustle of work, obligations and kids. Come join us as we Get Together to Get Away from our everyday life. Whether it is just for an hour during the week or hanging out on the weekends, this group will be dedicated to giving couples the opportunity to take a minute for themselves, while enjoying the company of other FUN adults. Each month we will have different "Date Night" adventures. Such as: Happy Hours, Movies, Bowling, Karaoke, Sporting events, Game nights, Day Trips and so much more! If you are single and love the game of golf, we welcome you to join our fun-loving group. We provide our members with the opportunity to meet great people and to play a variety of courses in New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick counties. Come and join our outings held twice monthly on weekends and/or our "Golfing Around" outings each Thursday. On the second Thursday of the month during daylight savings time, we meet at Magnolia Greens for nine and dine and our monthly meeting. There are other social events on our schedule, too.

I am the grandmother/guardian of a 9 year old boy who has aspergers syndrome. He is a very high functioning child however, it is hard to find playmates. I am sure that there are other Mom's/Grandmothers out there that find the same issue in their home. I am wanting to begin a play group for these children that will meet on a Saturday when the children are off of school and at home, finding that no one wants to play with them and the pain of being slightly different than the norm affects their world. If you are interested please email me and lets see if we can become a solid world of companions for our children. There is not an age limit as I am believing that this group can grow and support all ages.
I have recently completed a minor in Spanish which began at UNCW and concluded at the University of Salamanca, Spain, this past summer. The purpose of this group is to practice and improve speaking and listening skills in the Spanish language. Anyone can join that shares this goal, whether beginner or advanced. Native Spanish speakers are most welcome to join the fun and help us out! The meetings will have a topic such as cooking or recipes, sports, books or movies, or other interests of the members. We will read related articles or books between meetings to help in the discussions. The meetings will be in various designated public places such as Java, conference rooms, restaurants with a Spanish flair, or other venues recommended by the members.

This is a meet up group for all endurance athletes, more specifically runners, cyclists and triathletes. We welcome all levels of athletes from novice to experienced. We hope to be able to gain enough members to hold regular training sessions and get-togethers, but for now will be scheduling on a tentative basis dependent on membership.

With the onset of 2012, television programs, movies and books are exploring the possibilities surrounding December 21, 2012. As the date becomes a reality, no other subject is researched more. Given the endless possibilities available to each of us, it is time to begin to prepare.
As a group, we will discuss the facts and myths related to the 2012 prophesy, and come together with a common goal of learning and teaching. We will bring in guest speakers to illuminate and challenge us on many different levels.

I would like to start this group because I am the father of a 15 year old daughter who home-schools but has no social life. I know she cannot be the only one in Wilmington so my hope is to get a group of us together semi-regularly for the purpose of allowing our children the ability to have a social life. If you have a teenager in home-school and are concerned for their social happiness, please feel free to contact me so we can plan some events. This obviously would also allow for socializing of parents as well and we may be able to come up with creative ways to crystallize friendships for our children.

We have decided to form a group of caring moms and get together to discuss information, share news, stand up for our children's health, and just enjoy each other's company. We realized that we have so much information at our finger tips, but it can be very overwhelming (and time consuming) as a mother to sort through it all and to figure out what is best for our kids.
That's why we decided not to individually reinvent the wheel. If we all get together when we can, spend time with our kids, share information and take action together, we can inspire each other to get out there and really make a difference.

A group for all diabetics and pre diabetics in the Cape Fear region. Healthcare workers and educators in the Diabetes field are also welcome. Lets share our knowledge, make new friends and spread Diabetes awareness in our area.
In preparing to visit a new country or begin a new job you would do some research and prepare for what to expect, right? So why not think about, prepare, and plan for what to expect during childbirth? This meet up group provides expectant parents a non-judgmental place to talk with a birth professional, speak with other families, and get the scoop on your options for a positive birth.
A description of this group would include North Carolina educators that want to improve the working conditions in our profession. Improvements would include receiving our current step pay, receiving a pay raise that makes North Carolina competitive with most states in the country, improving our health insurance instead of reducing benefits and reducing class size.
These topics are just a few that could be negotiated. Any and all topics are welcome, as well as ideas as to how we can achieve our goals.
Any educator or person who is involved with education should consider joining this group. Educators are continually asked to do more with less. If you are tired of the status quo, then your voice needs to be heard!
Birth can hit us hard and leave us reeling in overwhelm. Maybe you were unprepared for birth. Maybe you had a plan but things didn't go accordingly. Even if you had a beautiful, empowering birth experience the postpartum transition can be a lonely, frustrating time. Whether you are feeling post-birth stress, the baby blues, or grief and depression in your new role, support helps.
